from NYC to London with Love


Byron Court, a 5-story, 57,000 square foot structure overlooking Mecklenburgh Square in Bloomsbury, was custom renovated by ZVI for New York University. The property is within access of public transportation, the universities, diverse entertainment options, and shopping centers. Byron Court is now a state-of-the-art complex capable of housing 230 students. With en-suite bathrooms, kitchens, living and dining areas, 24/7 security, laundry facilities with on-line reservation systems, multiple common areas, and a 200 seat modern classroom, convenience and comfort are combined to create an ideal student residence.



a luxury gym on a tight budget


This 22,000 SF renovation of an existing shell included the installation of architectural millwork, detailed moldings, sports flooring, and new electrical work which included the wiring for over 100 exercise machines.  In addition, substantial work was done in the locker rooms, each accented with marble and glass tile and equipped with saunas and steam rooms.  Working under the constraints of the owner’s tight schedule, and budget, we were able to value engineer significant savings while completing the project on time. 



Boston University premier student housing


Located in prestigious Kensington, this former budget hotel was transformed into a premier modern student housing facility. The project included restoration of the historic facade and mansard roofing system along with installation of state-of-the-art computer rooms, classrooms and modern living quarters. From site selection to finishes, ZVI is responsible for all aspects of the development process at Courtfield Gardens.



former potter factory, current residence


This 158 bed residential building will set a new standard for student accommodation in Sydney and across Australia.  The building is located in dynamic Camperdown opposite a tranquil park, just ten minutes from the heart of Sydney. With its close proximity to both University of Sydney and University of Technology, this architecturally renewed, heritage building is appointed with quality fixtures and finishes which provide the ideal environment for both study and recreation.  With both studio and four bedroom apartments available in various configurations, ZVI performed another renovation &restoration on a property of architectural and historical significance transforming this former pottery manufacturing plant into a state of the art student housing facility.

WBUR contracted with ZVI for both of its recent renovations which included installing mechanical equipment, fire protection, and elaborate finishes. ZVI established a fixed schedule and worked discretely on both design-and-build projects without disturbing WBUR's daily activities.



working out innovative design


ZVI worked closely with a group of experienced gym operators to help design and build this new gym concept’s first project.  This 18,000 SF renovation included the installation of new mechanicals, brand new locker room facilities, and finishes throughout.   Our team was able to achieve the innovative design Gym It was looking for, while meeting the schedule and budget demands for Boston’s latest discount workout facility. 



stunning transformations


ZVI recently completed this stunning transformation of the former Barnes and Nobles space in Coolidge Corner, and turned it into the latest state of the art 18,000 SF women’s only fitness facility.  On this project we worked closely with the designers and owners to achieve their innovative design specifications, and to find use for every available inch.  This included a structural single-story addition in the rear of the building to accommodate the new locker room facilities.  From the custom lighting package, to the installation and reworking of the mechanical systems to accommodate the demands of this popular healthclub, ZVI was able to complete the project within the confines of a tight budget and even tighter schedule



multi-phase renovation


ZVI recently renovated this 50,000 square foot space for the Harvard Clinical Research Institute. The design-and-build project included permitting and installing new finishes. ZVI completed this multi-phased renovation on a rigid schedule without interrupting HCRI's daily operations.



student union renovations


ZVI is proud to have completed this gorgeous renovation to Boston University’s main dining facility, the largest and busiest Aramark managed facility with over 7,000 customers a day.   This year round facility is home to tenants that include Starbucks, Aesop’s Bagels, Jamba Juice, and Burger King.  Under challenging circumstances, and a difficult off-hours schedule, ZVI successfully installed this intricate project design.   This project required custom finishes be built on site and new custom Italian flooring be installed, all while maintaining daily summer dining hall operations and seating for over 400.  ZVI was responsible for all aspects of this interior renovation project; from the new lighting and finishes, to custom millwork and furniture. 



budget savvy space for a nonprofit


This 24,000 SF fit-out was for Partner’s in Health, a well-known non-profit which helps provide access to healthcare and education for those in need around the globe.  Working under the tight budget constraints of a non-profit, ZVI was instrumental in obtaining the client’s specifications in a cost effective manner.  ZVI was responsible for all aspects of the construction project, from permitting to millwork install.  Since the tragic earthquake in Haiti, ZVI has worked closely with Partners in Health (the largest healthcare provider in Haiti) to help maximize their space, expand their operations, and cope with the high demand of PIH services.   



shaping a state-of-the-art dental center


Having previously completed a 22 workstation project for the Goldman School of Dentistry at Boston University, we were chosen to design and build this new state of art facility, a 40 chair expansion on the University’s main campus.  This 13,000 SF space is highlighted by a mosaic spiraled entrance, which allows patients to be efficiently escorted to and from the clinical area.  Each dental workstation chair is wired for electrical instruments, and plumbed in for gas, water, and vacuum capabilities.  With the latest in communication technologies, patients are able to immediately receive their x-rays, which are instantly projected onto the LCD screens attached to each workstation.  Equipped with State certified medical surgery rooms, the Boston University Dental Center has become a design model for the school, with two additional medical campus facilities recently completed by ZVI.



bringing wellness to the community


This 19,000 square foot interior renovation was for the nation’s first HIV community based research organization, and full service community health organization.  The most challenging aspect of this project was meeting Fenway’s expectations of design and function, within a unique historic space, while also fulfilling the stringent requirements of the State Department of Health.  From the installation of the pharmacy, to building mechanicals and project finishes, ZVI was responsible for all aspects of this design build construction project.



Geneva accomodations


ZVI transformed this former hotel into a 94-bed student housing facility located just one block from Lake Geneva in the beautiful Eaux Vive section of Geneva, Switzerland. With modernized kitchens and bathrooms, common meeting rooms, and state-of-the-art communications, this project has become one of the premier student housing facilities in Geneva.



transitioning from office to hospital


This 13,000 square foot building renovation has been converted into hospital and office space.  The project was completed in accordance with the complex requirements, and standards, of the dialysis centers parent company Fresenius Medical Care, and under the supervision of the Massachusetts Department of Health.  While relocating within the same property, ZVI effectively facilitated their seamless transition into this new state of the art medical facility.   From permitting to the installations of intricate mechanical, medical, and electrical systems, ZVI was responsible for all aspects of The Kidney Center’s construction process.



posh student apartments


ZVI transformed this historic structure, located in London's Bloomsbury district, into a posh apartment complex for students. The renovations resulted in en-suit living quarters accommodating 100 residences and include amenities such as building-wide WIFI, laundry facilities, and luggage storage centers. The design and rebuild project included refurbishing the gorgeous facade damaged by WWII bombs, updating structural and mechanical infrastructure and embellishing the buildings authentic finishes. Guilford Street, conveniently located within walking distance of diverse modes of public transportation, universities, parks and recreation facilities, shopping centers, and entertainment is the ideal location for students adjusting to life abroad.



refurbishing an 18th century brownstone


ZVI performed a historical refurbishment of an eighteenth century brownstone for the esteemed New England College of Optometry. We transformed the space into classrooms, labs, and offices.  The project culminated with a dramatic architectural bay-lite, set atop of the property’s beautifully restored historic stairwell.  This 14,000 square foot gut renovation included the shoring of the property’s historic façade and interior walls, the enactment of a modern design and building system, and the implementation of ornate architectural details including the ceiling, flooring, and custom woodwork.



luxury on the lake


Located in the heart of downtown Geneva and only 7 buildings away from the right bank of Lake Geneva, 13 Rue Rousseau is an eight-story building comprising approximately 1,200 square meters of net rentable area. TJAC acquired the property in 2009 and has transformed the former hotel into a premier student housing facility consisting of 29 apartment-style units accommodating up to 83 students. Each unit includes a private en-suite toilet and shower with shared kitchens and common space on each level. The ground level contains a manager’s apartment as well as a 32-seat classroom. Other project amenities include meeting rooms, laundry room, study rooms and storage areas for luggage.



off hours renovation


This 30,000 SF renovation was completed entirely off hours.  This allowed Frontier Science, a distinguished international research foundation, to maintain operations throughout the work day.  The interior renovation project included help with the design, and implementation, of a state of the art AV system complete with remote site conferencing for their satellite offices and affiliates. From permitting and design to finishes, ZVI was responsible for all aspects of this project.

This 14,000 SF fit-out was completed for the Boston University International Programs office and the International Students and Scholars Office facility.  These University departments are responsible for one of the largest international student populations in the country; their great reputation has placed them at the forefront of the foreign studies field.  With a date certain move which required a tight schedule and budget, ZVI was responsible for all aspects of construction, including permitting and the installation of custom millwork.

ZVI completed over 40 exam rooms and 27,000 SF of space for the New England Eye Institute.  Work included the construction of retail showrooms, offices, kitchens, and state of the art conference room facilities.  Our extensive renovations involved the installation intricate custom equipment, including the latest in eye scanning technology and lab equipment. From design and permitting to close-out, ZVI was responsible for all phases of the project.



chicken fingers for all


With over 80 restaurants in 30 states, we are proud to have been selected to build the companies first Massachusetts location, for this award winning chain of chicken finger restaurants.  ZVI was able to complete this project within a schedule that many felt was unachievable.  The project included the recapture of unused existing space, new mechanicals, ADA lift and accessible restroom facilities, fire protection, the installation of all new kitchen equipment, and finishes.   From the demolition phase to installing the new facade and signage, ZVI was responsible for all aspects of this project. 



modern technology & historic fabric


The largest single component of this historic interior restoration project was the installation of a full sprinkler system.  The new system was cleverly installed throughout almost every nook and cranny of the building, hiding the piping as much as possible, all while meeting fire department requirements.  In some instances, the installers had to crawl through holes smaller than 18 inches square to access locations in the attic which had not held a person in over 85 years.  The project was performed under the supervision of the MAAB, the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission (affiliated with the Massachusetts Historical Society), and the building is one of America’s Historic Treasures.

We find it appropriate to quote the Executive Director of the Boston Center for Jewish Heritage, Steven Greenberg, who said in a recent publication that ZVI successfully “integrated modern technology while respecting and preserving the integrity of the historic fabric of the Vilna Shul”




home for an international organization


This 7,000 square foot space now services an international Buddhist organization of over 12 million members. The project included design planning, permitting, re-working mechanical systems, and installing finishes. ZVI managed each stage of production, maintaining a tight schedule and strict budget throughout. 




gym, salon & spa


ZVI performed renovations in all four of the Ten X Club locations. The new facilities enable Boston's fastest growing fitness chains to provide first-class fitness with upscale salon and spa services at each site. ZVI redesigned and finished the facilities, enabling the transformation from ordinary fitness centers to extraordinary wellness facilities.
